After the feeling of accomplishment, the king of clay returned home to rest. After a dream fortnight at Roland-Garros, Rafael Nadal once again impressed everyone by winning the Parisian tournament for the 14th time in his career, bringing his number of Grand Slam victories to 22. An insane record, especially when you consider that he had to face legends like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic throughout his career. Despite his recurring pain in his left foot, the 36-year-old champion impressed again this year by reaching a stratospheric level of play despite the weight of the years and his physical problems.
After his final on Sunday and the match easily won against the surprise of the tournament, the Norwegian Casper Ruud, the tennis player took advantage of a few days of rest. We saw him yesterday on the Alexandre III bridge parading with his new trophy and after this beautiful day, he decided to return to his island, Mallorca, with his clan. Installed at the Grand Hotel with his family, Rafael Nadal left the premises yesterday afternoon, accompanied by his trainer, carlos moya, as well as the rest of his family. In particular, we were able to see his mother Ana Mariavery smiling in front of the photographers, as well as the athlete’s wife, the beautiful Xisca Perello.
Return to Mallorca for a few days of rest
Surrounded by bodyguards, the small family was able to take the road towards Le Bourget where a plane was chartered for them to return to the Balearic Islands all together. We could see Rafael Nadal all smiles on his arrival in Mallorca and while he considers Paris and Roland-Garros his second home, he seemed delighted to be able to take some rest from the media attention he has enjoyed in recent weeks. His lovely sister Mary Isabel was also present on arrival in Spain and the family was able to leave quietly by car to their home (photos to be found in the slideshow).
A short moment of rest to come for Rafael Nadal, who is still suffering a lot from his left foot, and who will have to find a solution if he wants to play Wimbledon in a few weeks.
