It’s Marc Hervieux who will take Claude Saucier’s chair next fall, I learned. I immediately reassure fans of this ICI Musique Saturday event that the formula, the musical universe and even the title of the show will not change.
“We are going to respect the framework created by Claude,” the host told me. Obviously, my signature will be there. The most recent polls show that this show is very popular. We’re not going to change that. »
It seems that several candidates have come forward and that a large number of pilots have been produced. Ultimately, the choice fell on the singer and director of the Conservatories of Dramatic Art and Music of Quebec for whom post-war jazz and big band sound are a true passion.
“It’s music that I’ve been listening to a lot since I was a teenager,” Marc Hervieux told me. Even though I am a classical singer, I don’t put any barriers for myself. Music, when it’s good, it’s good. »
Marc Hervieux will abandon the show he presents on ICI Musique, When it suits you, to devote himself to this new niche.
Waiting to take the microphone It is so goodon August 31, Marc Hervieux will spend part of the summer at Domaine Forget, in the Charlevoix region, where he acted as spokesperson for the 46e edition of the festival. He will also take the opportunity to present the show A voice to be lovedAugust 17, with Sophie Faucher and Dominic Boulianne.
Marc Hervieux will be on the show The Pogonat effect this Monday, at 11 a.m., with Catherine Pogonat, to talk about this new challenge.
Last lap for Paul Arcand
The countdown has begun for Paul Arcand, who will leave his show for good Since you have to get up Friday. Montrealers’ favorite host can leave with his head held high with spectacular results in the Numéris surveys published last week (an average of 89,274 listeners per minute).

He also retires in great shape. Her close interview with Caroline Bourgeois, mayor of the Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough, last Friday, on the subject of the lamentable state of the apartments operated by the Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal, showed that it has lost none of its bite, the asset at the origin of its success.

Paul Arcand will maintain a presence on 98.5 by presenting his famous press review with daily commentary. This segment will also be offered to readers of The Press, where he will also sign texts. With his sharp gaze, his sense of justice and his formidable guts, there is no doubt that his presence will be very appreciated.

Beau Dommage is told
For the members of Beau Dommage, 2024 will be a big year. The 50e anniversary of the group’s first album will be celebrated in various ways. The first is the launch of a podcast series which will be offered starting June 12, at noon, on OHdio.
In Beau Dommage: The hidden side of the album, the group of friends dives back into the process of creating the 11 songs that make up this historic record. But be careful, they do this by listening again to the tapes on which the instruments and voices were recorded. Music lovers, you are in for a great time.
Imagine the pleasure one feels when discovering the genesis of All the palm trees, December 23, The seal’s lament in Alaska, and others as part of a sort of musical striptease. Presented in isolation, the instruments (guitars, flute, bass, piano, percussion, etc.) reveal the extreme richness of the compositions. You can also fully savor the famous vocal harmonies of Michel Rivard, Pierre Bertrand and Marie-Michèle Desrosiers.
Over the course of the episodes and the confidences, we rebuild the framework of these songs tattooed in our collective imagination. But also the history of this legendary group. This podcast series, one of the best I have listened to to date, was produced by Sarah Fortin based on an original idea by Guylaine Maroist. It’s definitely worth discovering.

Memorable hits by the ton
The summer programming of ICI Première and ICI Musique promises to be hot and colorful. I shared some surprises with you a few weeks ago. But while scanning the schedules, I realized that several musical programs will give pride of place to souvenir hits.
First, by taking the bar back JS TendresseSunday at 5 p.m., on ICI Première, Jean-Sébastien Girard will give a lot of space to the syrupy and enveloping successes of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
But be careful, Jean-Sébastien will not have a monopoly on the genre. He will face a strong competitor in the person of Mado Lamotte who, on Saturday at 2 p.m. (repeated on Sunday at 6 p.m.) on ICI Musique, will present Mado galore. Having frequented her cabaret at a certain time and having seen her at the turntables, I can tell you that nothing escapes her ears, especially not the theme of Mini Fairy. We won’t be bored.
For her part, Monique Giroux does it again with Enchanted years, Saturday at 10 a.m. (repeated on Sunday at 8 p.m.) on ICI Musique. On the menu, the great hits of the 1960s and 1970s. Monique gave us a taste last Sunday with Lady lay, performed by Pierre Groscolas. I’m already won over.
In short, it will be humming in the cottages and on the quays!
Singers less present on the radio
A study led by musicologist Jada Watson, in partnership with the National Arts Center Ottawa and the activist group Women in Music Canada, examined the 150 most played songs between 2013 and 2023, as well as all tracks released in 2023 on various types of popular radio stations.
The results show that women’s songs, particularly those of women of color, were offered on the radio much less than those of men. It is on rock stations that women are less represented. They only occupied 1.9% of circulation in 2023.
However, we do not know the number of male and female artists who were at the start.
