“Radical Optimism”, Dua Lipa | The duty

The career of British-Albanian musician Dua Lipa has exploded thanks to the numerous hits from her second album, Future Nostalgia, but perhaps not enough for his taste: lack of pot, it was launched a month after the start of the pandemic. It is through this lens that we must see the prudence which characterizes the songs of Radical Optimism, an album that barely leaves the disco-pop framework that has become commonplace – in this respect, the innovative co-director Danny L Harle had enjoyed greater freedom by collaborating with Caroline Polachek. That being said, let’s accept this new album for what it offers: damn good pop. End of an Era ? It smells like summer, delivered with that amber and controlled voice that is Lipa’s. It’s hard to get the pop choruses of These Walls and D’Illusionand the first extracts Houdini And Training Season are far from being ovens (like French Exit, the weakest of the lot). Good pop which consolidates the image of the musician, from whom we still hope for more new ideas.
