The scene was filmed from an apartment located rue des Menuts in the Saint-Michel district. It’s 2 o’clock in the morning. We first see a small group of individuals provoke passers-by with shouts and insults. A few minutes later, the situation escalates and we see an individual hitting someone with an iron bar.
“The testimonials we receiveexploit Amine Smihi in charge of security at the town hall of Bordeaux, confirm that a group of 5 to 7 individuals engaged in provocations of a racist and xenophobic nature by insulting people, by generating fights with the real intention of committing acts of violence.“
On June 12, the pride march in Bordeaux was marked by incidents. Participants had received projectiles. Nine people were taken into custody before being released.
When the political statement lacks restraint (…) there are lost and brainless young people who end up taking action
“We have already known this year several facts that could be assimilated to this kind of practicecontinues the chosen one. Racist provocations, damage to multicolored pedestrian crossings, xenophobic, anti-Semitic or LGBTphobic displays. It’s been several times this year that we have faced this new form of delinquency which unfortunately happens in Bordeaux and to which we are going to have to give an answer because these acts are absolutely unacceptable and unbearable.“
For Amine Smihi, the rise of the right-wing extremist vote during the last legislative elections opens the way to the multiplication of this verbal and physical violence.
“When the political statement lacks restraint and becomes factually false to satisfy a radicalized electorate, there are lost and brainless young people who end up taking action. It is the politician’s responsibility not to throw oil on the fire. We saw it during this campaign, this responsibility is not assumed by the so-called extreme right branch of our French political class.“
