The Plante administration promises to create a one-stop shop to receive and investigate complaints of racism from its employees, following the recommendations of an external committee that looked into the problem.
The expert group was formed in the wake of revelations about the prevalence of racism among employees within municipal facilities.
“We are going to set up a one-stop shop for those who experience situations of racism and discrimination, a resource that will allow them to have personalized, safe, confidential support from the beginning to the end of the process,” said Dominique Ollivier. , President of the Executive Committee.
“We will further strengthen the accountability of officials and sanctions and disciplinary measures will continue to be given,” she continued.
The new one-stop shop will be supported by the Montreal Public Service Commission (CFPM), a small entity of the City of Montreal, already independent of its human resources department.
