Rachida Dati announced her candidacy for mayor of Paris in 2026. “My goal is Paris, of course I will be a candidate. I have always said it”declared, Wednesday January 17, on RTL, the one who was recently appointed Minister of Culture. “I am elected Parisian, I was in 2020. We are going to start again”she added. “I will unite, I will bring together all those who want things to change in Paris”launched the mayor of the 7th arrondissement of the capital.

The minister stressed that “the President of the Republic wanted to put an end to an undemocratic anomaly” for Paris, Lyon and Marseille where voters do not vote directly for their mayor. “There is no reason why Parisians should not choose their mayor, or when they put a ballot in the ballot box, they should not choose the person they want to see at the head of Paris”insisted Rachida Dati.
