And it’s easy to understand why. Before becoming a magistrate, then minister and mayor, Rachida Dati was born into a modest family. Her dad, M’Barek Benamar Dati (1934-2017), was a mason and she accompanied him on construction sites. He arrived from Morocco in 1963, and his personal story inspired an idea for the political leader.
