The new Wanderer release comes after the battle, that is to say the commemoration of the bicentenary of Franck’s birth in 2022. But, they know, these artists, even late, we forgive them. Just listen to the second track of the first CD and feel in your flesh the musical quivering: these are sensations that we find from publication to publication, which we end up expecting, but which, at the rendezvous , are still moving. The Wanderers, associated with the violinist Catherine Montier and the violist Christophe Gaugué, have created a double album, dedicated to the memory of Nicholas Angelich, of great intelligence, since he associates the Quintet from Vierne to that of Franck. THE Quintet de Vierne (1918) is one of the masterpieces among the compositions born of the trauma of the Great War. We do not come out unscathed from listening to this first CD. On the second, the Trio of César Franck’s youth is associated with a passionate and intense version of Sonata for violin and piano by Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian and Vincent Coq.
