Quebec’s economy grew 0.9% in the third quarter, after advancing 0.6% in the previous quarter, the Quebec Statistics Institute said on Wednesday.
On an annualized basis, third-quarter growth reached 3.5%, said the agency, which attributed the acceleration to an increase in household final consumption expenditure and total exports of goods and services.
In comparison, Canadian GDP advanced 1.3% for the third quarter, after declining 0.8% in the second quarter.
In Quebec, final domestic demand grew by 0.8% in the most recent quarter, after advancing 1.1% in the previous quarter, said the Statistical Institute.
The province’s total goods and services exports advanced 2.2% in the third quarter, mainly due to a 5.6% increase in interprovincial exports of services and a 2.1% increase in international goods exports. .
For their part, total imports of goods and services from Quebec rose 1.3% in the third quarter.
