The arrival of the Los Angeles Kings at the Videotron Center in October 2024 has already cost, to date, 2.5 million out of a total sum estimated at between 5 and 7 million to finance the event, while in Salt Lake City, we have just reached an agreement with the Californian team so that it will play a preparatory match ten days before its visit to the Videotron Center, without help from the State or the City.
Quebec is well known for its abundance of “good people”, welcoming and generous. However, Quebecers are not good-natured. The arrival of the Kings in Salt Lake City at zero cost adds fuel to the fire. The astronomical sum of some 7 million for the arrival of the same Kings, and drawn from the pockets of taxpayers, suggests that Quebecers find themselves trapped in a “scam” which places them in a position where they are perceived as “turkeys of the farce” due to a government decision that is highly questionable to say the least.
