Quebecers propel the Rocket

Benefiting from five successes from players from La Belle Province, the Laval Rocket defeated the Toronto Marlies 5-1 on Sunday at the Coca-Cola Coliseum.

Danick Martel, Jean-Sébastien Dea (twice), Brandon Gignac and Alex Belzile were the authors of the goals of the Montreal Canadiens school club.

In Dea’s case, his first goal was his 250th point in the American Hockey League (AHL). The native of Laval was also playing a 400th meeting there. He scored his second goal by redirecting a pass from Terrance Amarosa behind Petr Mrazek in the second period.

The goaltender belonging to the Maple Leafs organization is currently in AHL for conditioning purposes, he who has been bothered by a groin injury since October 14th.

In front of the Rocket’s net, Cayden Primeau repelled 34 of his rivals’ 35 shots. He was only foiled by a strike from Brett Seney.

Abbandonato in reinforcement

In addition, the Laval club recalled striker Peter Abbandonato from the Trois-Rivières Lions a few hours before his duel against the Marlies.

In the ECHL, the Quebecer was quite simply on fire. He has 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 17 games. The 23-year-old center was not in uniform against the Toronto team, however.

The Rocket will look for a third straight win on Wednesday night, while the Manitoba Moose will stop at Place Bell.
