Check promised, check due. The government of François Legault will pay out $3.5 billion to send Quebecers the payments of $400 to $600 promised in August during the election campaign.
The Prime Minister had already made known the value of these checks in his “anti-inflation shield”. Finance Minister Eric Girard confirmed on Wednesday that they would be sent to taxpayers “by the end of 2022”.
Essentially, individuals who earn less than $50,000 will receive a tax-free payment of $600. “The amount will gradually decrease for incomes above $50,000, to settle at $400 from an income of $54,000”, specifies the ministry in a press release.
Taxpayers who earn more than $104,000 will not receive a check.
“Our goal is to reach as many people as possible,” said Minister Girard at a press conference in Quebec City on Wednesday. No action is required on your part. »
