In his most recent post as assistant editor, François Cardinal criticizes those who refused to grant the title of “Quebecer” to the new general manager of the Canadiens, Kent Hughes1. The criticism is no doubt fair, but it nonetheless ignores the history of the word “Quebecers” and what its evolution says about our current society. Allow me to pursue his reflection.
