The Quebec cartoonist published the following message on Thursday: “Almost three years of living in secret, I can finally share my joy with you! Thank you to Éditions Dupuis for placing their trust in me. Franquin made me want to do this job so it is with great respect and humility that I will take care of his Gaston. With that, I’m going back to my cave, I have an album to finish! »

Maison Dupuis, which has published Les Nombrils since 2006, has decided to relaunch Gaston’s adventures to mark his centenary. The last gags of its creator, Franquin, date from 30 years ago.

In a press release published Thursday, Dupuis took the trouble to justify his choice. “Through his love of the series, his talent as a gag man and his respectful perfectionism of the master Franquin, the choice of Delaf was obvious. Marc immersed himself with passion in the work of the creator of Gaston, studying all the periods, scrutinizing the brushstrokes, the lines of Indian ink, soaking up his work philosophy by reading all the interviews that Franquin had been able to give in his rich career. »
