The vaccine passport, which has demonstrated its usefulness according to the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, will soon disappear from the daily lives of Quebecers. From March 14, it will no longer be taxed in Quebec.
The Minister provided an update on the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday afternoon. Due to a favorable epidemiological situation, “the passport is less and less necessary”, noted the elected CAQ at a press conference.
The announcement comes a week after the minister hinted he wanted to wait “at least until mid-March” to ax the vaccine passport. “Which allows us to do the deconfinement […]it is the space in the hospitals that we have created, but also the fact of having a vaccine passport and the mask, ”he said last Tuesday.
Quebec was already considering certain relaxations. Before moving forward, however, Prime Minister François Legault wanted to obtain the approval of public health experts, whom he met on Monday evening.
In Canada, several provinces have decided to drop the equivalent of the vaccine passport. Yesterday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced his intentions to lift vaccine pass restrictions on March 1 in almost all public spaces in Ontario, assuming the situation continues to improve.
