The Quebec Awards, which reward excellence in the fields of culture and science, will be presented on November 22 at the Palais Montcalm in Quebec.
The names of the 17 winners who “contributed to the growth of their field of activity, pushed the boundaries of knowledge and made Quebec shine on a national and international scale,” were revealed Thursday by the Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, and the Minister of Culture and Communications Mathieu Lacombe.
In the cultural sector, we find among others the names of the costume designer and artistic director of Espace GO, Ginette Noiseux (Denise-Filiatrault prize), the author and actor Robert Lalonde (Athanase-David prize), the architect Pierre Thibault (Ernest-Cormier prize) or the former TVA anchor Pierre Bruneau (René-Lévesque prize).

On the science side, the State notably rewards the specialist in neuroscience Maryse Lassonde (Armand-Frappier prize), the specialist in forestry and ecology Christian Messier (Marie-Victorin prize), the scientist specializing in hormone-sensitive cancers Jacques Simard (Wilder Penfield prize) or the criminologist Céline Bellot (Marie-André Bertrand prize).
The winners will receive a scholarship of $30,000 each, with the exception of the winner of the Relève scientifique prize (Marie-France Marin), who will receive a scholarship of $10,000. All winners will also receive a silver medal created by a Quebec jeweler.
