(Quebec) Two motorcyclists were involved in road accidents in the space of a few hours on Wednesday evening in Quebec City. One of them lost his life, while the other was seriously injured.
Shortly before 10 p.m., the Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ) was called to intervene on Rue Blanche-Lamontagne, in the borough of Beauport, where a motorcyclist had left the road.
“According to initial information transmitted to the 911 center, the driver of the motorcycle lost control and collided with a pole,” the police force said in a press release summarizing the facts.
The death of the motorcyclist, a 29-year-old man, was confirmed on the scene. The forensic identification unit and SPVQ investigators were deployed to try to shed light on the circumstances of the accident.
Earlier, around 8 p.m., another accident involving a motorcycle occurred, this time on Boulevard Bastien, near Rue Monique-Corriveau, in the borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles.
“According to initial information, the motorcyclist was traveling west on Bastien Boulevard and (a) car was traveling east. The car made a left turn onto Monique-Corriveau Street. That’s when the impact occurred,” explained the SPVQ.
When police arrived at the scene, the driver of the motorcycle, a 44-year-old man, was unconscious. He was taken to hospital, where his life is no longer in danger.
The driver of the car was not injured, but suffered nervous shock.
Investigators and technicians from the forensic identification unit also went to the scene of the accident to learn more about the sequence of events.
