Quebec | Two arrests for death threats

(Quebec) An elderly man in his sixties who barricaded himself for about 11 hours in a residence in Quebec was finally overpowered by police late at night on Wednesday before being placed under arrest.



He must be questioned during the day by investigators from the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ).

Police say the case began around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday when a call to the 911 emergency call center reported a person who had been threatened with death earlier at a residence in Val. -Bélair by two men who allegedly each exhibited what appeared to be a handgun.

Several police officers converged on the location of the complaint to secure the victim, an elderly man in his thirties, before arresting a first suspect, an elderly man in his fifties, who was transported to a post. from police.

The second suspect barricaded himself in his residence, but numerous attempts by the police to obtain his cooperation were unsuccessful. At around 4:15 a.m., the 60-year-old was finally overpowered by police officers from the tactical intervention group (GTI) and taken into detention.

The SPVQ predicts that the two suspects will appear later Wednesday at the Quebec City courthouse on charges of threats and pointing a firearm.
