Quebec is further tightening measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 in CHSLDs, intermediate resources and private seniors’ residences.
Thus, only caregivers will now be admitted to these establishments. In CHSLDs and intermediate resources welcoming seniors, only one caregiver will be admitted per day. As for private seniors’ residences, only one caregiver will be admitted at a time, for a maximum of two people per day.
The living environments will have to ask residents to identify a maximum of four caregivers in order to limit the number of different people who can have access to the establishment.
The Ministry of Health adds that only deconditioning prevention activities will be allowed, with medical-grade intervention mask and two-meter physical distancing between residents of private seniors’ residences.
In all settings, it is compulsory for any caregiver to present their vaccination passport to be able to visit a resident.
Quebec specifies that the tightening of measures is part of a context of continuous increase in the number of living environments with at least 10 cases of positive users.
The Ministry of Health indicates that the number of active cases in living environments currently stands at 2,640, and that as of January 2, 521 facilities are affected.
