The Minister for Health and Seniors, Sonia Bélanger, will table a new version of the bill on Thursday to expand medical assistance in dying (MAD).
At the end of the parliamentary session last June, the legislative text that had been tabled at the end of May by the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, could not be adopted for lack of time.
The bill aimed in particular to regulate advance requests for MAID for people with serious and incurable illnesses leading to incapacity, such as Alzheimer’s.
Minister Dubé had withdrawn the article from the legislative text on neuromotor disabilities, described by the opposition as a “surprise”.
Further details will follow.
