Québec solidaire wants to bring back the initial route of the Québec tramway

Québec solidaire (QS) wants to restart the initial tramway project in Québec. If it is brought to power, the party intends to extend the route to Charlesbourg, in addition to adding a connection to Jean-Lesage airport.

To do this, QS wants to draw from an envelope of 5.3 billion dollars, which will also be used to add rapid bus service lines in the capital. The left formation undertakes to pay these sums over eight years, at most.

The Quebec tramway project was originally intended to connect Cap-Rouge, in the west of Quebec, to Charlesbourg, in the northeast. However, by presenting its Express Network of the Capital in 2021, the government of François Legault has given up on the section which was to join Charlesbourg to the Saint-Roch district.

The solidarity team intends to return to it. It also promises a fast bus link on the Quebec Bridge to connect downtown to Lévis, as well as two fast bus services on Charest Boulevard and in a northwesterly direction.

Further details will follow.
