(Sherbrooke) Québec solidaire wants to take advantage of the election campaign to establish itself as the real alternative to the Coalition avenir Québec when voters will have the choice between “continuing or changing eras”, says Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois.

“I give myself 35 days to finalize the demonstration that the alternative to the CAQ in 2022 is Québec solidaire,” launched the parliamentary leader of Québec solidaire during a press briefing in Sherbrooke, in the riding of Saint Francois.

“We tried the Liberal Party in Quebec. We tried the Parti Québécois. And we tried combining the two. The coalition of the two, the old PQ and the old Liberals together, that’s the Coalition avenir Québec. What is the result? Delays in the environment, a ruined health system and the crumbling middle class,” launched Mr. Nadeau-Dubois, surrounded by nearly 75 candidates. He does not undertake to have them all elected. “But I will give everything so that we send to the National Assembly of Quebec the largest solidarity deputation in our history,” he said.

The previous record, set in 2018 with 10 elected officials, is however far from the gates of power. But “times are changing,” retorted the co-spokesperson. “We have fallen too far behind in the environment, our public services are in a terrible state, our elders are abandoned and there, we see a middle class that is slowly sliding into poverty. Quebecers are ready for big projects, big solutions,” he said.

new blood

In his opinion, Quebec needs “new blood”, and this hemoglobin can be found at Québec solidaire.

While François Legault “manages as one manages potholes” in “patch[ant] holes”, Québec solidaire will propose an “ambitious and quantified plan to make one of the greenest countries in the world”.

François Legault is not the Prime Minister of the Environment, he is the Prime Minister of the third link.

To the CAQ leader who accuses him of not having a plan, Mr. Nadeau-Dubois promises to present his by the end of the week. In health, he attacks the “accounting model” of the CAQ and boasts of his team of doctors: Mélissa Généreux, Yv Bonnier Viger and Isabelle Leblanc.

The co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire, Manon Massé, who will campaign separately from Mr. Nadeau-Dubois, for her part called on young people to go and vote. “Beating predictions is the strength of QS,” she said. “Don’t let François Legault dictate your future, go vote”.

The left party does not promise tax cuts, unlike the CAQ, the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party of Quebec. However, it presents itself as the party “that will prevent the impoverishment of the middle class, the party of the portfolio of Quebecers.” “In the next few days, Manon and I are going to make a decisive announcement for the portfolio of Quebecers. People need help now. The tax cuts that the other parties are promising, they’re just going to come in the next tax report. That’s not bad at all,” said Mr. Nadeau-Dubois.
