Québec solidaire (QS) intends to request an investigation by the Ethics Commissioner of the National Assembly into a $100 million transaction announced in early May by Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon.
QS MP Ruba Ghazal recalled on Tuesday that Mr Fitzgibbon had previously been blamed by the commissioner in another case.
“It would be a good thing, yes, I will make the request, she said in a press briefing. It is important because we cannot spare any effort in the face of Mr. Fitzgibbon’s breaches of ethics, and it is important to make the request. »
The duty reported Tuesday that the leaders of Investissement Québec (IQ) and the company Polycor contradict each other regarding the communications they had before the announcement of a transaction of 100 million dollars.
The company was also mandated by the merchant bank TD Securities. According to the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie website, the investment bank and its manager in Montreal, Abe Adham, made a donation totaling $750 to a team that included IQ President and CEO Guy LeBlanc and Mr. Fitzgibbon in 2014.
“How is it that Mr. Prime Minister tolerates his Minister of the Economy tainting the function of a minister, like Mr. Fitzgibbon? He has a public office and he fails to understand that there are rules that govern us, we cannot operate as he operated in private enterprise with his personal money,” Ms. Ghazal said.
