Québec solidaire (QS) is launching a campaign on Friday called New Quebec, an initiative that will seek to convince the new generation to embrace Quebec’s independence project.
The initiative will be led by the MP for Mercier, Ruba Ghazal. She explains that as a Quebecer of Palestinian origin, she understands and feels what it is to be uprooted, to see her language and culture threatened. She therefore wants to participate in transmitting the love of French and Quebec culture.
A Léger poll conducted at the beginning of the month showed that respondents’ support for sovereignty stood at around 35%. As for voting intentions, they give 32% of support to the Parti Québécois (PQ) which promotes independence, 25% to the ruling Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), 16% to Québec Solidaire and 15% to the Parti Québécois (PQ). liberal (PLQ).
Québec solidaire believes that the path to independence involves rallying young people to the cause, those who did not experience the first two referendums, in 1980 and 1995.
Mme Ghazal affirms that Quebec cannot afford to lose a third referendum and that is why we must speak to the new generation.
The solidarity co-spokesperson, Émilise Lessard-Therrien, will also participate in the New Quebec campaign. In his opinion, the independence project is emancipatory and it will resonate with a generation having grown up in a Quebec without a major social project. For meme Lessard-Therrien, the independence of Quebec is the keystone for action on all fronts such as social justice, the environment and self-determination.
Québec solidaire intends to broadcast its independence speech on a new website. He will also campaign on the ground to organize events, conferences and poster actions to promote the independence project.
