Last year, only 1 wintering tourist (snowbird) out of 5 Quebecers had headed for their usual sunny destination. With the reopening of the Canada-U.S. Land border, their ranks are expected to grow in 2021-2022: a survey conducted by CAA indicates that 70% of winterers surveyed had already indicated their intention to reconnect with their favorite beaches and palm trees, before even that the easing measures are not formalized. The remaining 30% had not yet made a decision or was waiting for the announcement of the reopening of the border to do so; It is therefore possible that an even larger proportion of migrating Quebecers will take off this year.

The data collection, carried out at the beginning of October by the insurer-tour operator from a thousand wintering Quebecers over the age of 55, shows that the latter swear by their good old slippers, mostly opting for their destinations, accommodations and durations. usual stays. Typically, these travelers leave Quebec in November (36%), head for Florida (68%), leave by car (43%), for a period of four months or more (54%).
