Quebec reports six more deaths and a further drop in hospitalizations

According to data published on Saturday by the Ministry of Health, the number of patients in hospitals due to the coronavirus rose from 1,834 to 1,789. There are 120 people in intensive care, one more than the day before.

Six new deaths have been added to the death toll. We now deplore 13,841 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.

The Ministry of Health also reports 1,736 new cases since the previous assessment. Authorities have identified 910,202 cases of infection since the start of the pandemic. The Ministry of Health does not provide data about rapid tests over the weekend. On Friday, he indicated that a total of 87,267 rapid tests, including 67,872 positive, had been self-reported on the platform put online by the government.

A total of 18,429 scans were performed on Friday. The positivity rate fell by 0.2 percentage points to 9.2.

No less than 16,631 doses of vaccine have been administered in the past 24 hours, including only 247 first doses to children aged 5 to 11 and 13,384 booster doses.

The percentage of people aged 5 and over who received a first dose is still around 91%. It is also reported that approximately 86% of the Quebec population received a second dose and that approximately 50% received a booster dose.
