Quebec reports drop in hospitalizations related to COVID-19

Quebec adds 50 new deaths to its balance sheet on Wednesday, while the number of hospitalizations shows a sharp drop.

The Department of Health reports 2,730 hospitalizations, a decrease of 122 from Tuesday. A total of 204 patients are in intensive care, down from 14.

3,816 new cases have been reported, for a total of 868,437 people infected since the start of the pandemic. However, this number is not representative of the situation, since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

In all, 51,152 rapid tests were self-reported on the platform set up by the government, including 38,782 positive. For the day on Tuesday, 1,381 tests were declared, including 1,000 positive.

The death toll now stands at 13,336.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 27,380 analyzes were carried out on Tuesday and that Quebec has a positivity rate of 11.6%.

Regarding vaccination, 49,444 doses have been administered in the province in the last 24 hours.

According to the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec, 85.6% of the population has received at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19. Among those aged 12 and over, 92.4% have received at least one dose and 90.1% are adequately vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health, for its part, indicates that 46% of people aged 5 and over have received a third dose.
