Quebec reports 567 new cases of COVID-19 and one death

Quebec reported 567 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death on Sunday.

More than half of the new cases, or 353, are in people who were unvaccinated or who received their first dose less than 14 days ago. There are also 11 people who received only one dose at least 14 days ago and 203 people who received their second dose at least 7 days ago who contracted the disease.

In all, 425,960 Quebecers have been infected with COVID-19, and 11,494 have died.

The number of hospitalizations is 236, 8 less than Saturday, while 62 people are in intensive care, a decrease of five people compared to the day before.

On the vaccination side, 7,523 doses have been administered in the last 24 hours, of which 2,676, or nearly a third, are first doses. This brings the total number of doses administered in Quebec to 13,295,780.

As of Saturday, 87% of Quebecers aged 12 and over were adequately vaccinated.

The Department of Health estimates that unvaccinated people are six times more likely to be infected and 20 times more likely to end up in intensive care.
