Quebec reports 28 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to be felt in Quebec as the new report shows 28 additional deaths. On the other hand, the number of hospitalized patients is decreasing.

According to data made public on Thursday, the Quebec toll has increased by 28 new deaths linked to COVID-19, including one that occurred during the last day.

Eight other deaths have been recorded in the past week and 19 other deaths that have occurred for more than seven days have not been counted.

In total, 16,306 people have now lost their lives in Quebec due to the coronavirus.

The situation in hospitals seems to have improved slightly as there are 1,972 hospitalized patients with COVID-19, a slight decrease of 14 from the previous day. Of all the patients, 662 were admitted to hospital due to the virus.

In intensive care units, there is an increase of three patients with the infectious disease. There are 44 patients with COVID-19 in these units, including 25 who are there precisely because of complications related to the disease.

To remain in the health network, the workforce remains heavily affected while 3,949 health workers are forced to be absent because of the virus. These may include preventive withdrawals, isolation or cases awaiting test results.
