Quebec reports 1,512 new cases and one additional death

The new wave of COVID-19 is showing no sign of abating in Quebec.

According to data released Saturday by the Ministry of Health, 1,512 new cases have been identified since the previous report. This is a peak since April 15. Authorities have identified 453,380 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Santé-Québec indicates that 804 of these 1,172 new cases had not been vaccinated or had received a first dose less than 14 days ago. In all, 675 newly infected people had received two doses for at least seven days.

The average for the last seven days is 1089.

A new death has been added to the death toll. We now deplore 11,586 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.

The situation remained relatively stable in hospitals where the number of patients rose from 230 to 225. Eleven patients were admitted to a hospital center. However, 60 people are reported in intensive care, three more than the day before.

The number of active outbreaks increased from 805 to 806.

A total of 35,856 analyzes were performed on December 2. The positivity rate remained at 4.0.

Santé-Québec indicates that a technical problem prevented it from providing detailed vaccination data for December 3. The situation should be restored in tomorrow’s publication.

As of Thursday, 19% of children aged 5 to 11 had received a first dose of the vaccine. This brings the percentage of people aged 5 years and over who received a first dose to 86%.
