Quebec reports 12 more deaths attributable to COVID-19

Hospitalizations related to COVID-19 remained relatively stable on Tuesday, after a few days of significant decreases, but the number of deaths remains high.

Twelve people have been added to the death toll, bringing the total to 17,190 since the start of the pandemic. However, all deaths date back two to seven days. None have been identified in the last 24 hours.

As for hospitalizations, after days of successive decreases, a drop of two was observed in the last assessment. As of Tuesday, 1,684 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized, including 566 due to the disease.

In intensive care, 33 people were treated, including 19 for COVID-19, which represents a decrease of five.

Nearly 3,300 healthcare professionals were still on sick leave.

The authorities have also identified 793 cases, but the number is really higher since the screening centers are reserved for priority groups. On Monday, 159 more Quebecers had self-declared a positive result from a rapid test on the government platform.

According to the Ministry of Health, the positivity rate was 8.2%.

The vaccination campaign seems to be slowing down this week. On Monday, only 12,365 doses were administered. The ministry reported Monday a total of 6,584 injections over the weekend.

Since the start of the pandemic, 22,115,780 doses of vaccine have been injected into Quebecers.
