Quebec reports 11 more deaths from COVID-19

After several days of gradual increase, hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 have fallen slightly, according to the latest government report.

Authorities reported 1,962 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, including 631 due to the disease, a decrease of 17.

In intensive care, there is a drop of one patient, for a total of 44 people, including 23 treated specifically for the disease.

There were still more than 4,000 healthcare workers who were absent due to illness.

Authorities have also added 11 deaths to the toll, including five that occurred two to seven days ago and six more than seven days ago. There have been 17,372 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

For the cases, the authorities report 945 new infections, to which must be added 103 positive cases detected by the rapid tests. The actual number of cases is probably higher, since the screening centers are reserved for priority clienteles.

The positivity rate remains quite high, at 11.1%.

On the vaccination side, 17,359 Quebecers had received a dose of vaccine for the day on Thursday.
