Discouraged by negotiations that have stalled for two years with the Treasury Board, among other things on the salary issue, the organization begins a tour on Monday to obtain a strike mandate of up to ten days.

Union members demonstrated in bitter cold on Monday in front of the Treasury Board in Quebec City, right next to the National Assembly.

“My arguments are no longer valid, so let’s take action,” summed up the first vice-president of the national executive of the SFPQ, Maryse Rousseau, in an interview with The Canadian Press on Monday morning.

“We are looking for a strike mandate,” continued the one who is also spokesperson for the negotiating table.

The employer party is proposing a salary increase of 2% per year, with a bonus in the third year for those who are at the bottom of the salary scale.

“Officials find it insulting,” said M.me Rousseau. This is not how the government will succeed in keeping its employees. So what we expect is recognition that will go through a catch-up salary. »

The union is demanding at least 10% over three years to offset the rising cost of living.

“We are asking to stop getting poorer, we are sick of having salary increases that are lower than inflation. »

In addition, according to the SFPQ, compensation is much better in the federal and municipal public service.
