Quebec | Police discover a laboratory for processing synthetic drugs

(Quebec) The Quebec City Police Department (SPVQ) discovered a synthetic drug processing laboratory in the La Cité–Limoilou borough of the national capital on Friday evening. They immediately carried out a search.

The discovery was made by chance in the evening. The police department said that 911 was contacted around 7:20 p.m. by the management of an apartment building in the Saint-Sauveur district, which was concerned about foul odors coming from one of the apartments.

On site, the police were also able to notice the smell and entered the home in order to ensure the health and safety of its occupants. Inside, it was not individuals, but drugs and production equipment, that the officers found.

A search was carried out quickly after this discovery. This allowed the SPVQ to seize the sum of $24,000, nearly 46,000 amphetamines, more than five bags filled with methamphetamine powder; approximately 10 grams of heroin; nearly 220 grams of cannabis, some 100 grams of hashish; production equipment as well as weapons and cell phones.

The SPVQ indicates that the investigation has been taken over by the Narcotics Unit and that arrests have not yet been made, but are expected.
