Quebec plans to open an office in Miami

The CAQ government announced Wednesday its intention to open a Quebec office in Miami, bringing the number of representations abroad to 35, including 10 in the United States.

The office, which will be headed by the current director of the Quebec office in Barcelona, Isabelle Dessureault, would have the mandate to support the exports of Quebec companies and promote Quebec expertise in strategic sectors.

In addition to strengthening Quebec’s political and institutional ties with Florida, a Quebec office in Miami would also help identify business and partnership opportunities for Quebec businesses and organizations.

Florida is Quebec’s second largest trading partner in the southeastern United States, with trade of more than $2.8 billion in 2021, up 18% compared to 2020.

“Several economic indicators encourage us to strengthen Quebec’s position in the southern United States, which offers considerable growth prospects,” said Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, Nadine Girault.

“This region looms large in the US economy and politics. An increase in our presence on the ground will promote the prospects for increased economic relations for Quebec,” added Ms. Girault.
