Quebec must also acquire the “right to disconnect”, proclaims QS

Inspired by Ontario, Québec solidaire returns to the charge concerning the right to disconnect.

The party is tabling a new bill on the “right to disconnect”, that is to say the right of an employee not to respond to messages and communications from his employer outside of his working hours.

In October, the Ontario government tabled a bill that recognizes this right in companies with 25 or more employees.

The spokesperson for QS in matters of work, Alexandre Leduc, believes that it is a hot issue of topicality, because of the telework which imposed itself during the pandemic, but also of the issues of mental health.

Québec solidaire had already tabled a similar bill in June 2020. It provided that each employer had to establish a disconnection policy applicable to all its employees.
