Quebec reports Friday 26 new deaths linked to COVID-19 and another drop in hospitalizations.

There are currently 2,290 hospitalizations, a decrease of 36 hospitalized patients since the last assessment, published Thursday. There are 81 people in intensive care, down four from Thursday.

A total of 9,104 healthcare workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, down 273 from Thursday.

The death toll now stands at 14,977.

The Ministry of Health reports 1,649 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,041,075 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 198,786 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 162,419 positives. For Thursday, 433 tests were declared, including 352 positive.

The Ministry of Health reports that 18,291 tests were carried out on Thursday and the positivity rate is 12.2%.

With regard to vaccination, 34,408 doses administered are added, ie 32,637 in the last 24 hours and 1,771 before April 28.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 87% received at least two doses and 54% received a third dose.
