Quebec lists 24 more deaths related to COVID-19

The decline in hospitalizations of patients with COVID-19 continues in Quebec, their total number had fallen below the 2000 mark, but the authorities reported 24 new deaths.

The Ministry of Health and Human Services reported on Wednesday a decrease of 24 hospitalizations since the day before, bringing the total to 1,942, of which 612 patients are being treated specifically for COVID-19.

In intensive care, the number of people treated rose to 52, an increase of two from the previous day, but there are still only 25 patients who are treated due to the disease.

In addition, more than 3,600 health professionals are absent from their work for reasons related to the disease (preventive withdrawal, isolation, awaiting results, etc.).

As for the number of deaths, 16,998 Quebecers have now succumbed to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, with the 24 additional deaths reported on Wednesday. Of these, only one has occurred in the last 24 hours.

Quebec also reports 1,013 new cases. However, this figure is incomplete, since access to screening centers is restricted to certain priority groups.

Quebecers declared 182 rapid tests on Monday, including 155 positive. The total stands at 303,609 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 255,120 positives.

The positivity rate is 9.2%, we can read on the dashboard of the Ministry of Health.

As for vaccination, 24,730 doses were administered on Tuesday, for a total of 21,758,692 vaccines injected into Quebecers.
