Quebec lists 19 new deaths attributable to COVID-19

Quebec authorities reported on Tuesday 19 new deaths linked to COVID-19, as well as an increase of 22 hospitalizations linked to the disease compared to the previous day.

Of the 19 new deaths reported on Tuesday, three occurred in the past 24 hours, 13 between two and seven days ago, and three more occurred more than a week ago, the health ministry said.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Quebec now stands at 17,409 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

There were 1,959 new hospitalizations on Monday, including 653 due to COVID-19. There were 53 patients in intensive care, including 30 due to COVID-19, an increase of six from the previous day.

The ministry reported 1,132 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, although the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles. The positivity rate remains quite high, at 11.2%.

There were 3,785 healthcare workers absent for reasons related to COVID-19.

A total of 156 rapid tests were self-reported for Monday, of which 142 were positive. The total toll stands at 313,800 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 264,245 positives.

On the vaccination side, 10,734 new doses were administered on Monday.
