Want to see the world upside down for a few hours this summer? Many circus shows offer a change of scenery! In town or in the region, for the family or for adults, Quebec or foreign troupes: no need to do a thousand acrobatics to find something to entertain yourself. Here are some suggestions.
Cirque du Soleil
Cirque du Soleil is gracing three regions with its presence in the coming weeks. At the big top of the Old Port of Montreal, 10 years after its first performances, Kurios. Cabinet of curiosities and its funny universe planted in the 19th century at the time of technological discoveries, will be back in service until August 25. The show Echo, inspired by the relationships between humans and animals (and its giant geometric shapes!) will be in Gatineau from August 16 to September 22. Finally, in Trois-Rivières, Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to a group of very popular comedians (see box).
Circus of Paris
The French institution Cirque de Paris is preparing to tour Quebec, in nine cities (Terrebonne, Jonquière, Lasalle, Drummondville, Saint-Jérôme, Longueuil, Trois-Rivières, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Beauport) for the first time in its history. Le Diamant, in Quebec, puts on its poster Smashed2Following Smashed, previous creation of the Gandini Juggling company. Cirque Éloize baptizes a new “ambulatory and immersive” opus, Have a good trip, where performing arts, acrobatic performances and 360-degree video frescoes will be juxtaposed. We will relive the atmosphere of the metropolis of the end of the 19th century.e century, notably from the first trans-Canadian train journey, on June 28, 1886, to Port Moody, British Columbia. Festival Montreal completely circus
Always the scene of a thousand and one discoveries, the Montréal completely circus festival celebrates its 15th anniversary this year under the theme Impossible is not a circus. Troops from the United Kingdom, Australia, the United States and Quebec, between flyé and traditional, will impress us, in particular the old hands of Circa with Duck Ponda reinvention of ballet Swan Lake. “The Stranger”
The Cirque de la Pointe-Sèche, in Saint-Germain-de-Kamouraska, presents its fourth original creation, The stranger, which takes a caring look at difference and stubborn prejudices, in front of its natural setting of an 18-meter rock wall. At the Monastère, a Montreal church converted a few days a week into a circus cabaret, the productions Last Judgment Cabaret And Pride Cabaret revolve respectively around childhood dreams and LGBTQ+ diversity, between trash and poetry. From July 5 to August 10ut
Islands Circus Festival
At the Magdalen Islands Circus Festival, the iconic offbeat fresco Beardedfrom Cirque Alfonse, is on the schedule, as is The neighborsBig Toe, and Nothing included, from the Fake Blue Collective. To close, the musical group Karkwa will delight its admirers. In Cap-aux-Meules, from July 18 to 24
“Cabaret Éclats”
