The grant announced on Monday by the Minister of Culture, Nathalie Roy, and the Minister responsible for the French Language, Simon Jolin-Barrette, aims to encourage French-language theatrical writings of the 21st century.and century.

The envelope will finance a training camp for the next generation, a symposium and programming for the Théâtrophone platform, which is intended for young people. “It’s a great initiative that comes at the right time: it will mainly target the next generation of theatre, greatly affected by the pandemic.

Theater is a natural vehicle of the language,” said the co-presidents of the Conseil québécois du théâtre, Laurence Régnier and Rachel Morse, in a press release. This assistance comes from investments of nearly $104 million over five years announced by Quebec in 2021 to defend and strengthen the status of French.
