Quebec introduces Bill 12 and wants to prioritize Quebec purchases

Quebec wants to increase by 60% the proportion of public contracts obtained by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the regions.

At a press conference at the National Assembly, Minister LeBel said she was particularly targeting the strategic sectors of health and the bio-food industry. “Ultimately, we want 100% of businesses, departments and organizations to source their food from Quebec, in the agri-food industry,” she declared. “We’re going to tell the departments and agencies: ‘You have to do it,'” she continued.
