Quebec injects 57.5 million to support social pediatrics centers

In the wake of the recommendations of the Laurent Commission, Quebec announces support of $57.5 million granted to the network of community social pediatrics centres.

At a press conference Monday morning at the premises of the La Ruelle community social pediatrics center in Hochelaga, the Minister of Families, Suzanne Roy, and the Minister responsible for social services, Lionel Carmant, made the announcement.

In her speech, Minister Roy indicated that the objective was to reach more than 15,000 children in vulnerable situations through some fifty centers inspired by Dr. Gilles Julien’s approach.

The investment should make it possible to strengthen the capacity of community social pediatrics centers to act and to extend their services to regions that are not yet served.

We also want to improve support for the development of direct care and services for children.
