Quebec has 8 new deaths linked to COVID-19, hospitalizations on the rise

The increase in hospitalizations continues in Quebec, while eight new deaths caused by COVID-19 are reported.

The number of hospitalizations is currently at 1,200, an increase of 47 from Tuesday. Sixty people are in intensive care, down from three.

The death toll now stands at 14,353.

The Ministry of Health reports 6,067 new cases, for a total of 964,450 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 133,959 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the platform put online by the government, including 106,782 positive. For the day on Tuesday, 1,560 tests were declared, including 1,334 positive.

The Ministry of Health says 17,616 tests were carried out on Tuesday and the positivity rate is 17.1%.

Regarding vaccination, 8849 doses were administered in the last 24 hours in Quebec.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 87% received at least two doses and 53% received a third dose.
