Quebec has 17 new deaths linked to COVID-19, hospitalizations down

The drop in hospitalizations continues in Quebec, while we deplore 17 new deaths attributable to COVID-19.

On Wednesday, 1,672 hospitalizations were reported, a decrease of 70 compared to Tuesday. Of those patients, 102 are in intensive care, down from five.

The Ministry of Health reports 1,861 new cases of COVID-19. However, this number is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to certain priority groups.

Since the start of the pandemic, 915,762 infections have been officially reported, and 13,903 of them have proven fatal.

A total of 92,636 rapid tests, including 72,206 positive, have been self-reported so far on the platform put online by the government. For the day on Tuesday, 518 tests were declared, including 376 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 20,408 analyzes were carried out on Tuesday and that the positivity rate is 8.7%.

As for vaccination, 12,669 doses have been administered in Quebec in the last 24 hours.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 86% received at least two doses and 50% received a third dose.
