Quebec has 1,171 new cases of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic is on the rise in Quebec, even without the new Omicron variant.

The number of new cases exceeded 1,000 for a second day in a row.

According to data released Saturday by the Ministry of Health, 1,171 new cases have been identified since the previous report. This is a peak since April 30. Authorities have identified 445,756 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Santé-Québec indicates that 714 of these 1,172 new cases had not been vaccinated or had received a first dose less than 14 days ago. Four hundred and forty-five newly infected people had received two doses for at least seven days.

Three new deaths have been added to the death toll. We now deplore 11,574 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.

The situation remained relatively stable in hospitals where the number of patients rose from 205 to 206. Fourteen people were admitted to one hospital. However, 48 people are reported in intensive care, five more than the day before.

However, the number of active outbreaks declined from 669 to 667.

A total of 31,835 analyzes were performed on November 25. The positivity rate increased by four-tenths of a point to 3.4.

No less than 23,782 doses of vaccine have been administered over the past 24 hours, including 14057 first doses to children 5 to 11 years of age and 3,248 booster doses to people aged 70 and over.

The percentage of people aged 5 years and over who received a first dose is still around 84%. It is also reported that approximately 81% of the Quebec population received a second dose.
