(Quebec) The MALSAIN project struck a major blow on Wednesday morning, in Quebec, by arresting four people for possession of narcotics with the aim of trafficking and who are allegedly linked to organized crime.
Two men aged 50 and 54 as well as two women aged 32 and 55 were placed under arrest by investigators from the MALSAIN project of the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ), with the help of the Group intervention tactics and other units of the SPVQ.
One of the two men was also arrested for firearms offences. The individual was due to appear Wednesday afternoon, reported the SPVQ.
Two others were released on a promise to appear, while one of the women was released without charge, reports the SPVQ.
These four arrests were followed by searches in residences in the Beauport district and the Saint-Émile district which allowed investigators to seize a pistol and ammunition, as well as around fifteen grams of cocaine, nearly A thousand methamphetamine pills, a hundred grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms, around 300 pills of the painkiller hydromorphone contin, more than 170 grams of hashish, electronic cigarettes and nearly $25,000.
The SPVQ indicates that the investigation is continuing and that other arrests could take place.
