According to data released Saturday by the Ministry of Health, the number of patients in hospitals due to the coronavirus fell from 1,313 to 1,258, a drop of 20% in the last seven days. There are 78 people in intensive care, 22 less than seven days ago.
Twenty new deaths were added to the death toll. We now deplore 14,076 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.
The Ministry of Health also reports 1,210 new cases since the previous report. Authorities have identified 928,130 cases of infection since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.
The average of new cases for the past seven days stands at 1,162, a drop of more than 15% compared to last Saturday.
The number of active outbreaks has decreased over the past 24 hours, from 512 to 480.
A total of 14,066 analyzes were carried out on Friday. A worrying sign, the positivity rate jumped by 1.2 percentage points, remaining at 10.4%.
The government does not provide data on self-reported rapid tests over the weekend. On Friday, 101,027 rapid tests had been self-declared so far on the platform put online by the government, including 78,784 positive. For Thursday, 351 tests were reported, including 265 positive.
The vaccination campaign is progressing at a snail’s pace. Only 8,596 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours, including only 370 first doses and 6,335 booster doses.
The percentage of people aged 5 and over who received a first dose is still around 91%. It is also reported that approximately 87% of the Quebec population received a second dose and that approximately 52% received a booster dose.
