Quebec COVID-19 Report October 20, 2022

Hospitalizations of people with COVID-19 remain stable, according to the government’s latest report, which also lists ten new deaths linked to the disease.

Authorities reported 2,085 hospitalizations on Thursday, including 655 specifically for COVID-19, a stable number from the previous day.

In intensive care, a drop of eight patients was recorded, for a total of 54 people, including 31 who are being treated because of the disease.

The number of retired health care workers also rose by 79 to 3,985.

Authorities added ten deaths to the toll, which now stands at 16,925 since the start of the pandemic. Among the deaths recorded on Thursday, two occurred in the last 24 hours, three two to seven days ago and five more than seven days ago.

As for cases, 1,057 new cases have been reported, but this data remains incomplete given that access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

Quebecers declared 187 rapid tests on Wednesday, including 165 positive. The total stands at 301,680 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 253,420 positives.

According to the ministry’s dashboard, the positivity rate is 9.2%.

Vaccination has resumed its cruising speed, with a total of 26,727 people immunized on Wednesday. In all, 21,632,779 doses were administered in Quebec.
