Quebec COVID-19 Report December 20, 2022

Quebec reports 28 new deaths linked to COVID-19 in its most recent report on Tuesday, while hospitalizations are on the rise.

Among the new deaths announced on Tuesday, four have occurred in the past 24 hours. Nine people died two to seven days ago, and 15 more than seven days ago.

Since the start of the pandemic, 17,570 Quebecers have lost their lives in connection with the disease.

In terms of hospitalizations, authorities reported an increase of 31 from the previous day. There are now 2,099 patients with COVID-19 who are hospitalized, including 699 due to the disease.

The number of patients who end up in intensive care has not changed, for a total of 57 people, including 35 who are being treated specifically for COVID-19.

The number of health professionals who are withdrawn in connection with the virus has meanwhile fallen below 4,000, to reach 3,599.

The number of new cases remained high, with 1262 new infections, and a positivity rate of 12.1%. And we must add at least 131 cases detected on Monday by rapid tests.

The number of cases is probably underestimated, since the screening centers are reserved for priority clienteles.

On Monday, 9,802 Quebecers received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
